April 23, 1935 - January 2, 2010

Judy Reibel, 74, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2010 after a short illness. She was surrounded by her four sons and the love of many others at her passing. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Norma Hyman of Brooklyn, NY. She is survived by her sister Barbara Shack (Donald); her sons, Jimi (Karen), Paul (Sharon), Kenny (Rebecca), and Mark (Carolyn); seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, with another on the way.
A longtime educator in the Dade County, FL public school system, Judy moved to Carmel, CA after retiring and built a new life for herself. In addition to volunteering at Congregation Beth Israel, Community Hospital, the Alliance on Aging and as a Senior Peer Counselor, Judy would gladly supply her Mondel Bread to any worthy fundraiser. She was a bright, inquisitive person who always took a keen interest in others and formed strong bonds with people she met throughout her life. Judy helped many to regain their inner strength and courage, even when facing her own challenges. Judy's passing leaves a great void that won't easily be filled.
A memorial service in her honor will be held on February 7, 2010 at 2:00pm at Congregation Beth Israel in Carmel Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity close to Judy's heart, the National Childhood Cancer Foundation (http://host.curesearch.org/goto/JudyReibel).
