Rosalie falls asleep instantaneously when the propofyl is administered. Rosalie sits on my lap and I read her a story when they start pushing the propofyl through her line. Her eyes close immediately and we lie her down on the gurney. Rosalie has not needed to use the mask for induction (some kids are scared of the mask) because her central line already provides direct access to her blood. In most cases they need to use the mask so that the child is under enough, then they run an IV (not always easy with a child's veins), then they administer the propofyl.
