Rosalie is scheduled for strabismus surgery on Tuesday, April 22. We are very happy that she has the first surgery of the day (6:30am arrival). Her surgeon is Dr. Susan Day at CPMC who has come highly recommended by Rosalie's other doctors. We have seen Dr. Day on a regular basis since last summer and I am very impressed with her ability to engage Rosalie.
Until her surgery we will continue to patch Rosalie's strong eye so that her weak eye gets stronger. In theory, strabismus surgery is more successful if each eye has good vision.
This surgery will give Rosalie a better chance of achieving binocular vision and depth perception. The risks of this surgery are minimal. Infection is biggest concern - so we will use an antibiotic drop in her eye. Her eye will be bright red for about two weeks. Dr. Day said that really the biggest issue is that for one in five kids this surgery does not work the first time. In this case they would do the surgery a second time. Please join us in praying for a safe surgery, no infections, a speedy recovery, and a successful outcome!

Do you know if it will be recession or resection procedure? Those links were very informative and got me curious. Rosalie is such an amazing trooper to endure all of these operations!!
